Travel

Here I share and reflect on the wonder of so many beautiful and interesting places in our sometimes deeply broken world. These are not travel guides, more a blog with a difference. Nevertheless, I hope these will stimulate and inspire the would-be traveller and bring pleasure to others.

Before I retired, I could almost count my international journeys on one hand. Holidays were largely in a home-converted campervan in the UK.  We also did a lot of trail walking.  Retirement gave us the freedom to be more ambitious. However, our style normally avoids package holidays.  Half the fun is planning the journey and trying to make money go as far as possible!

Scandi 24 was the ultimate example of this approach. At a combined age of over 150, we went interrailing for the first time, joining youngsters in hostels!  See that page for this adventure!
Some years earlier, we had a once-in-a-lifetime tour of New Zealand. This sparked off Livetheflow and my joy of trying to capture the essence of our great experiences through pictures and words.

These travel pages include two that are different: one is an illustrated poem about the Severn Way. Another is a collection of thoughts on travel, very much in the spirit of Livetheflow.
